The new Plaxton Elites for E.Stott & Sons were supplied by Plaxton Coach Sales at Anston.

Stotts of Huddersfield has chosen the Plaxton Elite for the latest new additions to their quality coach fleet. The two Volvo B9R based Elites are the first for the company, joining a modern fleet comprised mainly of Plaxton’s Panther and Paragon models. Although the Elites are a first for the company, the fleet now includes five B9Rs. Director Carl Stott commented, ‘We like the Plaxton-Volvo combination, it works for us and by choosing the Elite adds value to the business. We continually re-invest in a modern fleet and the strikingly different look of the Elite clearly demonstrates this to our customers, they say they have the ‘wow’ factor! We have received great comments from the drivers and we are very pleased with the Plaxton build quality.

Stotts new Elites are 12.6m long vehicles featuring 51/53 Politechnica GTV reclining seats, incorporating three point all age seat belts and drinks holders, finished in a dark red moquette with cream leather piping and headrest inserts together with a matching courier seat. The interior includes red moquette trimmed aircraft style overhead lockers, grey roof linings and cream curtains. Passenger comfort is assured by climate control incorporating an integrated Thermo-King roof mounted air conditioning unit together with strongly tinted windows. The specification also includes a sunken toilet with servery area above, fridge and offside continental door. Entertainment is provided by a Blaupunkt CD/Radio/PA system enhanced with a DVD player and monitor.

Underneath the stainless steel framed Plaxton Elite body is a rear engined Volvo B9R chassis with Volvo’s 9litre D9B 380hp Euro5 engine coupled to the Volvo I-shift gearbox. Euro5 is achieved through the SCR process using Ad-Blue. Externally, Stotts have applied their distinctive graphics with compass pattern to the Elite’s white base whilst Alcoa Durabrite alloy wheels embellish the vehicles’ appearance.  ‘Road Angel’ live tracking has been installed by Stotts to monitor the vehicles’ progress 24 hours a day.

E Stott and Sons Ltd was established by Eric Stott in Huddersfield in 1984, bringing many years of coaching experience from the original family business on the other side of the Pennines. Sons Carl and Mark now run the family owned company which operates over thirty modern coaches and low floor buses. From their modern depot in Milnsbridge, Huddersfield, the fleet covers a wide variety of work including quality private hire, contracts, express services and Metro contracted bus services. The Elites continue a long tradition of Plaxton products in the immaculately presented fleet and will be used primarily on quality private hire work.

The Elite is Plaxton’s top of the range coach body first unveiled to customers in late 2008. It features a strong but lightweight stainless steel frame to minimise weight, allowing high specification levels and luggage capacities to be easily accommodated. It is equally at home as a high specification touring coach or as an inter-city express coach where a front mounted wheelchair lift may be specified. The Elite is currently available at 12.6m on Volvo’s B9R two axle chassis and at 14m on Volvo’s B13R tri-axle chassis.
