Alexander Dennis, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc., a leader in bus and coach mobility solutions, today announced that it has delivered two Enviro400 buses to English independent operator Compass Travel of Worthing.
The high-capacity buses are the first new double-deckers the business has bought in its 31-year history. They complement a 92-strong fleet that is already 90% Alexander Dennis, mostly made up of Enviro200 single-deckers.
The two Enviro400 double-deckers have been bought to serve a contract with The Chichester College Group and to work on private hire, rail replacement and event services. They are fitted to Alexander Dennis’s standard specification, with radio/PA system, digital tachograph, and belted seats. They’re painted in Compass Travel’s attractive maroon-and-white livery.
At 11.5m, they are Alexander Dennis’s longest variant of the Enviro400, with 85 seats each including a tip-up in the wheelchair bay.
Compass Travel is a member of the ALBUM group of independent operators and runs a busy bus network covering much of West and East Sussex, Brighton & Hove and Surrey. Compass Travel celebrated its 30th anniversary last year and has depots in Worthing, Lewes, Brighton and Dunsfold.
The business has invested heavily in Alexander Dennis buses over the last five years, most recently taking 11 new Enviro200 single-deckers in spring and summer 2025.
Michael Bishop, Director of Compass Travel, said: “Our contract with The Chichester College Group, alongside a growing pipeline of other commercial opportunities, has created the right platform for us to expand the fleet with our largest new buses to date.
“We have bought many Enviro200 single-deckers from Alexander Dennis, standardising our fleet to bring us an enviable level of operational reliability and consistency for customers. Our long experience with these buses, and always-fantastic service from Mark and the team, made the Enviro400 the obvious choice for two high-capacity additions to the fleet.”
Alexander Dennis Regional Sales Manager, Mark Taylor, said: “It’s always a pleasure to work with Michael and the team, and to see their fantastic fleet grow – and it’s a real honour to be here for delivery of their first new high-capacity Enviro400 buses.
“Compass Travel continues to go from strength to strength. We’re grateful to be part of the journey, and very proud that the business turns to Alexander Dennis for their new bus needs again and again.”
