Ryme worldwide LTD launches the new rising roller bed load simulation brake tester incorporating Ryme Mini-Pit, A safe solution to a process that could potentially be very dangerous.
The specification for these rising systems which was written by the GEA (Garage Equipment Association) on behalf of the DVSA (Driver Vehicle Standard Agency) states that these lifting systems must have a minimum lifting pressure of 10 tons. This is why we believe that mounting rails and skates at floor level and expecting a technician to crawl under a vehicle on their back to attach straps and chains to chassis and axles is no only a health and safety issue as well uncomfortable, but its also dangerous.
This is why, even though it might make us a little unpopular with some customers and even cost a sale, We will not put technicians operating the equipment or those working in bays adjacent to them at risk.
This is why we only install our system across a pit, giving the operative clear access under the vehicle and the ability to stand up at full height and safely attach the straps to a vehicle with the knowledge that the Pit Safety system is detecting personnel whilst under the vehicle. The side tunnel allows the technician to enter and exit the pit irrespective of vehicle length.
The brake tester and hydraulic lift system cannot operate until the technician returns to the operating cabinet and physically confirms that it is safe to commence with the testing.
Should there be equipment failure such as a strap breaking, it is happening in the pit, not at floor level.
