Introducing the new MAN TGX Truckers’ Edition

MAN Truck & Bus is presenting the new MAN TGX Truckers’ Edition for the first time at the Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. The special edition is based on the MAN TGX 18.560 4×2 tractor unit and combines the particularly efficient MAN PowerLion drivetrain, with its D30 engine and 560 hp, with equipment that has been consistently tailored to the wishes and requirements of professional drivers. The vehicle was developed in close collaboration with MAN’s Truckers’ World community, through which around 350 drivers took part in this special project.

The new driver-focused edition is aimed in particular at small and medium-sized haulage companies that want to offer their drivers a particularly high-quality working environment without having to carry out extensive customisation after vehicle delivery. The aim was therefore to create a vehicle that already combines many of the comfort, safety and design features requested by drivers straight from the factory.

“The Truck Grand Prix is a special date for us every year, because this is exactly where we meet the people we develop our vehicles for. That’s why I’m particularly pleased that we can present our MAN TGX Truckers’ Edition exclusively for the first time at the Nürburgring,” says Stefan Schall, Managing Director Truck, Van & Used at MAN Truck & Bus Deutschland. “This is not an ordinary model, but the result of an intensive dialogue with our community. The design and equipment are directly informed by feedback from everyday driving and are the answer to the real requirements of long-haul transport.”

Designed by drivers, for drivers

The starting point for the MAN TGX Truckers’ Edition was a workshop with drivers from across Europe. Following a call-out within the MAN Truckers’ World community, around 350 participants worked together to define their vision of the ideal long-haul truck. The focus here was not on the most extravagant conversions possible, but on a balanced combination of comfort, functionality, safety and cost-effectiveness.

The result is a MAN TGX with a GX cab, 560 hp and full air suspension. High levels of safety and cost-effectiveness are ensured by modern assistance systems such as MAN EfficientCruise with PredictiveDrive, which factors topography and route profile into the driving strategy ahead of time, the EBA Plus emergency brake assist with front detection, and the turning assistant. These systems help drivers in long-haul transport to save fuel, identify critical situations involving other road users at an early stage, and manoeuvre the vehicle safely even in urban environments.

High-performance efficiency for long-haul transport

At the heart of the MAN TGX Truckers’ Edition is the MAN D30 in-line six-cylinder engine, delivering 560 hp and 2,800 Nm of torque. Developed jointly within the TRATON GROUP, the 13-litre engine achieves an efficiency of over 50 per cent and, together with the new MAN TipMatic 14 transmission, forms the MAN PowerLion drivetrain. Compared with the already highly economical predecessor model with the D26 engine, and combined with further optimised aerodynamics, it delivers fuel and CO? savings of around five per cent. The new driver edition thus combines strong performance, driving comfort and cost-effectiveness in a particularly compelling way.

A premium workplace for long distances

The needs of drivers were clearly at the centre of the equipment specification. Standard features of the MAN TGX Truckers’ Edition include comfort seats with seat heating and climate control, the MAN ComfortSteering electronic steering system, an electric parking cooler, and extensive storage and stowage solutions. A 24-inch television, a wardrobe combination on the rear cab wall, and a specially developed TV recliner further enhance living comfort on long trips.

Practical features such as automatic fifth wheel coupling detection, the electronic fuel theft protection system, the MAN OptiView digital mirror replacement system and numerous assistance systems also support drivers in their daily work and make their jobs easier.

Distinctive design with a clear identity

The exterior appearance was also shaped by driver preferences. Characteristic features include front sections painted in the cab colour, a consistent avoidance of chrome trim, and numerous black design elements. These include a special black package, black wheel rims, a black sun visor, a roof bar with integrated LED light bar, and air horns for a distinctive sound.

For its market launch, the MAN TGX Truckers’ Edition will be shown in the exclusive “Mojave Beige Metallic” paint finish. In general, however, the special edition will be available in various vehicle colours, allowing customers to match their vehicles to their company’s branding.

Limited edition for Europe

The MAN TGX Truckers’ Edition will be offered in European markets. Every vehicle is delivered with an exclusive package of additional equipment. This includes a CB radio with hands-free function, high-quality floor mats, a matching fitted sheet for the comfort bed, wind deflectors, and a leather jacket specially designed for this exclusive vehicle as a personal gift for the driver.

With the MAN TGX Truckers’ Edition, MAN is making a clear statement of appreciation for the people behind the wheel. The special edition combines state-of-the-art drivetrain technology, high efficiency and maximum driver focus in a vehicle that was developed from the outset for those who keep Europe’s flow of goods moving every day.
