Kia Corporation (Kia) today unveiled the Kia PV7 at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany. The second model in Kia’s dedicated, all-electric Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup, the PV7 expands the brand’s offering in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment.
Available in Cargo and Passenger variants, the PV7 combines electric performance, flexible interior space and connected technology to support a wide range of business and mobility applications. Built on Kia’s PBV-dedicated E-GMP.S architecture, it features a flat-floor design that maximises interior space and flexibility, along with solutions that help customers achieve greater productivity in their day-to-day operations and drive stronger business outcomes. Building on the foundation established by the PV5, named the 2026 International Van of the Year, the PV7 expands the scale and scope of Kia’s PBV offering. Its larger dimensions and broader application potential enable Kia to serve a wider range of customer needs, from fleet, logistics and shuttle operations to small- and medium-sized businesses and personal mobility. Kia’s PV7 strategy is built around three business-focused pillars: hardware, software and service.

At the software level, Kia provides the Kia Business Solutions Portal, which supports fleet management, charging, maintenance and daily operations. Standardised Fleet Management System (FMS) and connected vehicle data APIs tailored to customers’ operational needs help improve fleet visibility and support more efficient day-to-day operations.
In addition, Kia offers dedicated Uptime services that support vehicle availability through real-time monitoring, predictive diagnostics and proactive maintenance management. Kia’s business-tailored service is centred on PBV-dedicated services designed to provide tailored support across diverse business operations, lower total cost of ownership and support higher vehicle uptime. Kia plans to expand the PV7 lineup to 23 variants following its 2027 launch, with the PV9 set to follow in 2029, further broadening the brand’s PBV lineup and mobility solutions.

What is the development concept behind the Kia PV7?
Designed as a versatile, business-tailored vehicle, the PV7 is based on Kia’s ‘Tool Box’ concept, which focuses on creating vehicles optimised for specific customer requirements. While the PV5’s ‘Open Box’ concept emphasises urban flexibility, the PV7 has been developed to provide greater capacity and payload for more demanding operating environments and larger-scale applications.
It has also been designed around the practical needs of drivers, operators and passengers, with features that reduce physical strain during entry and loading, improve usability and convenience, and support safer and more efficient operation.
What performance, connectivity, and EV capabilities does the Kia PV7 offer?
Kia has developed the PV7’s electric capabilities not simply around regulatory requirements, but as tools to support business innovation, productivity and operational efficiency.
Powertrain and range: The PV7 is offered with a choice of 71.5kWh and 96.2kWh nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery packs. Depending on market and configuration, the electric powertrain delivers up to 200kW and 420Nm of torque to the front wheels. Front-wheel drive is standard, with an all-wheel-drive variant planned as a future addition. The Long Range Cargo variant offers over 460km of all-electric range (AER) under the WLTP cycle.2
Fast charging: The PV7’s 800V architecture enables 10-to-80% charging in the mid-20-minute range using a 350kW DC fast charger (TBC), helping reduce downtime. A first for Kia, the PV7 also offers dual charging ports, including a front AC/DC charging port and an optional rear-side AC charging port, providing greater flexibility across a wider range of parking and charging environments.3
Connected experience: Pleos Connect, based on Android Automotive OS, delivers a smartphone-like in-vehicle experience through connected navigation, flexible screen layouts, an open app marketplace featuring first- and third-party business applications, and over-the-air updates. The platform incorporates Gleo AI4, an AI-powered voice assistant that enables natural-language control of vehicle, navigation and messaging functions.
Practical EV capability: Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality enables the PV7 to power and charge tools, business equipment and other devices through exterior and interior outlets, while a dedicated heavy-load driving mode helps the Cargo variant maintain stable driving performance by adapting to varying payload conditions.
What are the key differences between the PV7 Cargo and Passenger?
PV7 Cargo: Designed for logistics, delivery, fleet and small- and medium-sized business operations, the PV7 Cargo is available in 2- and 3-seat configurations globally and prioritises capacity, accessibility and efficiency. The Cargo Long model offers up to 6.1m³ of cargo space (VDA standard), while the Cargo High Roof provides up to 8.0m³. Maximum payload capacity is rated at up to 1,165kg for the Long and up to 1,200kg for the Compact variant. The Long model features a 550mm loading height and capacity for up to three Euro pallets (800×1,200mm). A dedicated heavy-load driving mode adapts vehicle performance to varying payload conditions, helping maintain stability under substantial loads.
Floor materials can be tailored to different applications, while customers can choose between a full-open twin-swing tailgate for easier loading in confined spaces and a conventional lift-up tailgate. Smart Walk Away automatically closes the power sliding door when the driver leaves with the smart key, while cargo-door status monitoring enables remote status checks. Additional features include a load-through bulkhead5 and independent cargo-door lock/unlock functionality, enhancing cargo security.
PV7 Passenger: Designed for crew transport, shuttle and rental services, tourism and family use, the PV7 Passenger combines comfort with exceptional versatility. It accommodates up to nine occupants globally and up to 11 in Korea, with a variety of seating configurations designed to support different passenger and operational requirements.
The 7-seat model is equipped with Long-Rail Easy Remove Seats, enabling flexible interior configurations to suit different customer needs. The 9-seat model is available with or without a fourth row, providing greater flexibility for different passenger and operational requirements. Rear climate control adds passenger comfort, while available features include 100W USB-C charging ports and storage solutions.

Developed under Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the PV7 combines bold, upright proportions with a squared-off cab-forward silhouette and flat roofline. Building on the distinctive PBV identity established by the PV5, these elements bring greater sophistication and premium appeal to the commercial vehicle sector while maximising interior space, accessibility and everyday usability.

At the front, the PV7 adopts the black hood treatment shared with the PV5. A visual connection between the A-pillars and daytime running lights reinforces the one-box form, while the black hood and pillar garnish create a strong contrast with the body colour and reinforce the distinctive design identity of Kia’s PBV lineup. Kia’s signature lighting, hidden headlamps and a robust lower treatment create a distinctive and modern appearance. A protective skid plate, visible below the bumper, adds a further sense of robustness and durability.
The side profile features a floating-roof graphic, which on the Passenger model is created by visually connecting the black fender and D-pillar trim with the wraparound glazing. A lowered front beltline, highlighted by a distinctive kick-down graphic, enhances openness, visibility, and everyday usability, while the expansive glazing improves outward visibility and corner sightlines. Pronounced fenders, black wheel-arch cladding, and unique glazing and trim treatments differentiate the Passenger and Cargo variants and reinforce the vehicle’s character.
At the rear, variant-specific door and tailgate designs9 balance practicality with visual consistency. Technical rear-light graphics, exposed hinges and clearly defined opening layouts emphasise functionality, while replaceable bumper corners, wheel-arch sections and door cladding help simplify repairs and reduce downtime.

The PV7’s interior creates organised, purpose-built spaces tailored to the distinct needs of Passenger and Cargo customers. Both variants combine practical storage solutions with user-focused technologies that enhance comfort, convenience and productivity. Mobile-device-inspired 12.9-inch and 14.6-inch displays provide intuitive access to vehicle information and connected services.
The driver environment was developed around the needs of users who repeatedly enter and exit the vehicle dozens of times throughout a typical working day. Features such as an A-pillar grab handle, optimised seating position and refined step geometry help make ingress and egress easier and more comfortable. Physical controls for frequently used functions complement Pleos Connect, balancing advanced digital capability with intuitive, tactile operation.
The PV7 Cargo adopts a ‘Mobile Workspace’ concept, with a layered dashboard and centre fascia maximising usable space. Open storage areas help keep essential items within easy reach, while on three-seat front-row models, the centre seatback folds down to create a versatile open tray when not in use.
The PV7 Passenger places greater emphasis on comfort and refinement. Two-tone finishes, enclosed storage compartments, available ambient lighting and an optional centre console that doubles as a table during breaks create a more sophisticated cabin environment. A roof-mounted airbag enables additional dashboard storage, complemented by an overhead driver storage compartment. In the rear, roof-integrated climate controls, available power-sliding doors and newly developed seats enhance convenience, accessibility and comfort on both daily commutes and longer journeys.
How do colour, materials and finishes enhance the PV7 Cargo and Passenger roles?
The PV7’s colour, material and finish (CMF) strategy unites the contrasting roles of cargo and passenger transportation through a shared design language while giving each model a distinct character.
Its robust, modern exterior is enhanced by a bold colour palette, including newly developed Fjord Blue, Solid Moonrock Gray and Lush Green, while matte body finishes add further distinction to the passenger van market.
Inside, the Cargo and Passenger models feature role-specific treatments. The PV7 Cargo adopts a practical Onyx Black One-Tone interior as standard, with Deep Navy One-Tone also available. Orange accents add visual energy11, while a speckled open tray helps resist dirt and scratches and serves as a distinctive design element.
The PV7 Passenger takes a modern, lounge-inspired approach, with Onyx Black One-Tone, Onyx Black-Gray Two-Tone and Sand & Taupe colour themes12 creating a sophisticated, spacious and welcoming environment. An open tray finished in thermoplastic styrene (TPS) enhances colour richness while contributing to a quieter cabin experience, while fabric applied to the upper dashboard and seat upholstery materials add comfort, refinement and visual depth.
Bio-based and recycled materials are incorporated throughout the vehicle. Together, the PV7’s CMF treatments balance practicality with distinct character tailored to the needs of both Passenger and Cargo customers.
What additional PV7 derivatives and conversion models will Kia offer?
Kia will expand the PV7 lineup beyond the models introduced at the World Premiere, introducing 23 variants to support a broader range of customer needs and use cases.
The full lineup will include Cargo (Compact13, Long, High Roof) and Passenger (Compact, Long) variants, a dedicated Chassis Cab for specialist applications, along with a wide range of conversion models.
