Essex-based Scammell Commercial has marked its Anniversary by commissioning 18-tonne Arocs skip-loaders bearing the star of Mercedes-Benz.

Essex-based Scammell Commercial has marked its Silver Anniversary by commissioning a clutch of 18-tonne Arocs skip-loaders bearing the silver star of Mercedes-Benz. Founded in 1990 by Managing Director David Scammell, the company made its name as a commercial vehicle maintenance specialist. It has since branched out and now also offers roadside repair services as well as running a fast-expanding vehicle hire operation from its headquarters in Grays.

Boughton Engineering has completed its Whole Vehicle Type Approval programme for all its mainstream ‘carrier’ chassis types – including DAF, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Scania and Volvo. Approvals cover both hook loaders and skip loaders and for operating weights of 18 to 32 tonnes GVW. Remaining carrier chassis types will be completed by the turn of the year.
