Fortec has provided marketing, operations and IT support to father and son business J&DC Enterprise
The Fortec Distribution Network has set J&DC Enterprise Ltd on the road to success by facilitating its transition from a one-man operation into an expanding logistics company.
The network has helped father and son team Justice and David Crentsil to develop the business, which serves the CR, SM and partial RH postcodes, all key areas for Fortec. The business was set up on an industrial estate in Redhill, Surrey, a year ago after David decided to take his experience as a delivery van driver to the next level.
From there, it runs a fleet of seven vehicles, including three vans, one curtain-sider, a tail-lift, an 18-tonne and a 44-tonne artic and has a 1,700 square foot warehouse.
Justice works behind the scenes while David runs the day-to-day operations and manages two warehouse assistants, an administrative assistant and a team of six self-employed drivers.
The firm has come a long way in a short time with Fortec’s help. The innovative pallet network, which has more than 80 members across the UK, has given support with marketing, operations and IT which has been vital for J&DC Enterprise’s growth.
Managing Director Justice said: “Since we’ve been with Fortec we’ve been able to expand our business to a national level. As well as assisting J&DC Enterprise with marketing collateral, including the design of its website, Fortec sent staff out to train Justice, David and a warehouse assistant for several days on how to use Fortec’s IT platform.
Giving total transparency and traceability across the network, Fortec Connect allows members to track their consignments even when in another member’s vehicle, offers electronic proof of delivery and streamlines paperwork and communication between members.
Being a member of the network also opens up more potential custom to J&DC Enterprise because it can draw on the strength of the network to accept loads for destinations across the UK.
Justice added: “We are now able to offer transport to Scotland and other areas which previously we were unable to cover. We can go farther afield. Our primary focus is on Fortec and growing the business. We want to get more of our own customers on board, secure another warehouse and more vehicles, and expand.”
