Contargo puts 33 DAF XD Electric trucks into operation

The Mannheim?based company has been working with DAF for many years in the field of zero?emission logistics. In 2019, Contargo was one of the first German transport companies to put two fully electric DAF CF trucks into operation, and subsequently expanded this number. With the delivery of 33 DAF XD Electrics – together with the XF Electric named ‘International Truck of the Year 2026’ – Contargo now operates a fleet of nearly 100 fully electric trucks.

‘Scaling up’

Contargo aims to be fully CO??neutral by 2045. Michael Starke, Managing Director of Contargo Truck Fleet GmbH & Co. KG, said: “The handover of the 33 DAF Electric trucks is an important step for us in further expanding zero?emission transport. The XD Electric shows how sustainability, safety, and efficiency can be perfectly combined with great driver comfort.”

New benchmark

In the segment of battery electric trucks, the New Generation DAF XD, XF, XG and XG? Electric set the benchmark in terms of efficiency, safety and comfort. The trucks are equipped with state of the art PACCAR electric motors, delivering power outputs from 170 to 350 kW (230 to 480 hp). The modular LFP battery packs provide between 210 and 525 kWh, depending on the number of battery modules installed on the chassis. The 33 DAF XD Electric tractors received by Contargo are equipped with five battery packs, giving them a ’zero emission’ range of more than 500 kilometres.

With its unmatched direct and indirect view, the XD Electric is perfectly suited for urban and regional distribution, but also performs well on longer distances. All vehicles delivered to Contargo have a Sleeper High Cab, which offers an excellent seating position, a spacious interior, and a highly comfortable bed.

‘Shared ambition’

“The delivery of 33 new XD Electric trucks to Contargo emphasises the technological lead of our new generation of electric vehicles, and above all the shared ambition to make the logistics sector cleaner, smarter and future proof,“ commented Harald Seidel, President of DAF Trucks. “We are proud of the long standing partnership with Contargo and will continue taking the next steps of the energy transition together.”
