Mr Plant Hire selects Renault Trucks for fleet flagship and to showcase brand update

One of London’s leading independent plant hire companies, Mr Plant Hire, has taken delivery of a new Renault Trucks C430 8×2 tag. Supplied by Norfolk Truck and Van, the new Range C has been selected as the company’s flagship vehicle and to showcase its new and refreshed branding.

The new C430 joins the 8-strong predominantly Renault Trucks fleet on a like-for-like replacement as part of the company’s 5-year renewal programme with two additional Renault Trucks in build including the company’s first 44 tonne T460 6×2 midlift tractor unit with low loader, which will be delivered in early 2023 and a D18 4×2 rigid with beavertail.

Oliver Simson, Transport Manager at Mr Plant Hire explains:

“Our latest addition to the fleet is the first in our company’s new branding, which our new MD Steven King has brought in to freshen things up, and it looks great! The new C430 has been on the road for a few weeks and our driver Perry is delighted with it, he’s out cleaning it every day, it’s his pride and joy.”

The new Range C430 8×2 tag with Sterling beavertail body has Mr Plant Hire’s striking new dark blue and yellow livery wrapped by AST, Lightfix 6 spot lightbar and twin air horns. It is powered by Renault Trucks’ 11 litre DTi engine, which delivers maximum power output of 316 kW between 1700 and 1900 rpm, and maximum torque of 2050 Nm from 1000 rpm to 1400 rpm, mated with an Optidriver AT 2612F direct drive gearbox with automatic clutch.

The truck has been specified for manoeuvrability on site with rear steer and air suspension at the back giving the option to vary the height when going onto an awkward site or picking up an awkward machine.

Oliver Simson says:

“The new C430 gives a good performance and our driver, who is out in it all day, says is probably the most comfortable truck he’s driven. He’s also getting a lot of attention when he’s out on the road with quite a few ‘nice new lorry – they must be looking after you’ comments!”

The relationship with Renault Trucks, which goes back over several years, was key in the new vehicle selection as Oliver Simson explains:

“Our local dealer, Norfolk Truck & Van Enfield is right on our doorstep. We have a great relationship with our account manager, Peter Thirkettle, and work very closely with him on specifying the right vehicle with the right body that we need to move the kit. We find the Renault Trucks product is very reliable, the vehicles rarely go wrong and if there is a problem, then Norfolk Truck & Van rectify it straight away.”

Oliver concludes:

“The plant hire sector is very competitive, and although we’re small compared to some, after forty years in business we’re still standing proud and delivering for our customers. The new C430 is not only a real head turner, it’s a great performer, reliable and is keeping our driver very happy.”
