In a prelude to the Volvo Group’s 100th anniversary celebrations in 2027, Volvo Trucks has unveiled a new special version of its FH, FH16, FH Aero and FH16 Aero tractor units. The Volvo 100-Year Edition has been updated both inside and out to improve driver comfort, ambience and to embrace the Group’s rich heritage.
The centenary celebration model – available to order from September 2026 – can be purchased in most drivelines and chassis configurations that the FH and FH Aero are currently delivered in. The unveiling follows a series of recent updates to the electric, diesel and gas powertrains to improve performance, range, energy efficiency and power.
Design Director, Jonathan Disley, says: “The 100-Year Edition truck is a celebration of what we have achieved so far over the past century, and it is a very special truck in more ways than one. The interior is both modern and premium, as well as an homage to Volvo’s history. The design was inspired by our Swedish heritage and the professionalism that comes from years of innovation and progress, alongside our customers’ trust and passion.”
Illuminated doorsteps and welcome light
Inside the 100-Year Edition’s cab, the seats have been redesigned with a new two-tone concept, a premium leather seat base, and an embroidered anniversary motif. Tan leather details have also been added to match the striping details on the truck’s paintwork.
The special edition trucks are equipped with unique illuminated doorsteps, alongside LED strips on the console which can be set for either red or white ambient lighting.
Another new feature is a welcome light – again, featuring the anniversary motif – which is projected onto the ground outside the truck when the door is open. The same motif is present on the new 3D-printed speaker grilles, while the curtains in the truck feature a line-up of Volvo’s various truck models from the last 100 years.
A thicker, more luxurious black/grey floor mat with tan leather labels has also been added.
“This special edition represents the peak of Volvo’s truck design and manufacture over the past century: the result of 100-years’ worth of continual improvement in safety, quality, driver comfort, productivity, fuel efficiency and emissions saving,” says Jan Hjelmgren, Head of Product Management at Volvo Trucks.
The Volvo FH has recently received significant powertrain updates for electric, gas and diesel models. It has also continually performed well in the Euro NCAP truck safety tests, with several configurations being named as the top-marked trucks in their segments.
The Volvo 100-Year Edition is the latest in a line of special edition models, which have previously included the Volvo FH 25-Year Special Edition, the Volvo FH Aero Euro NCAP Special Edition, and the Volvo Ocean Race Limited Edition.
