JURATEK hosts customer VIP day at Silverstone BTCC round

Braking supplier JURATEK invited 20 guests trackside for the penultimate race weekend of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Silverstone, to see the brand’s sponsored driver, Árón Taylor-Smith, battle it out for a podium finish.

The racing event took place on 23 and 24 September at the Silverstone National circuit, where JURATEK hosted 20 of its customers on the Sunday to enjoy the racing in action – and see its leading braking products on the track.

Guests experienced a VIP day including a grid walk to see all of the cars up close before the race began, a hospitality box to watch the racing action in, and an opportunity to meet the drivers and pit mechanics.

Matt Leeming, marketing manager at JURATEK says: “We wanted to take our customers to a racing event to thank them for all of their support over this last year. We had a great day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves!”

JURATEK-sponsored Árón Taylor-Smith raced to another podium and Independents win at the 1.6-mile Northamptonshire venue, famous worldwide as the track for the British Grand Prix.

The Dubliner fought his way through Saturday’s practice sessions achieving the second-fastest time on the day, before securing a credible eighth on the grid for Sunday’s action.

Race one saw wet conditions for the BTCC field, with tyre choice and slippery surfaces posing challenges to the drivers. Taylor-Smith kept a cool head on his slick tyres, moving up from his eighth place grid slot, to finish the race in seventh.

With the circuit dry for race two, Taylor-Smith worked his way up to second in the opening exchanges. A mechanical failure for the car ahead left Árón with a massive opportunity at the front of the field, before championship leader Ash Sutton chased him down, overtaking Árón at the first corner of the final lap to deny him the race win.

Despite being pipped to the post by Sutton on the final lap – Taylor-Smith enjoyed a second podium in as many rounds, and a third Independent class victory of his 2023 campaign.

Taylor-Smith comments: “It was great to have so many JURATEK guests trackside for race day. Their support is always felt so strongly by me and the whole team, but it was great to have them all here in person and to celebrate the podium finish together.”

Matt Leeming adds: “For our customers, meeting Árón and the pit mechanics on the day gave them the chance to ask questions about the engineering challenges facing a racing car and the enormous pressures placed on the components. And the cherry on the cake was Árón receiving a podium finish on the day with our customers watching!”

The final three rounds of the 2023 BTCC season will take place on 7 and 8 October at the iconic Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. If you would like a chance to win 2 VIP tickets with accommodation to the season finale, please head over to our social media sites to see how you can win.
