At Agritechnica 2025, MAN Engines will be presenting strategically further developed drive solutions under the keynote theme “Powering the green transformation – off-road solutions for the future”, which are specifically in line with the trade fair motto “Touch Smart Efficiency”. The products presented are based on state-of-the-art technologies and are specifically designed to ensure maximum efficiency, performance and sustainability – precisely tailored to the growing requirements of agricultural technology. “MAN Engines is once again showing how smart innovations and well-thought-out system solutions pave the way for future-proof agricultural technology,” says Reiner Roessner, Head of Sales at MAN Engines. Thanks to their efficient operation, MAN engines enable the sustainable use of agricultural machinery and help to ensure the food supply of a growing population. The latest engine technology helps farmers to use their machines in a powerful and resource-saving way. As a bridging technology, the stationary MAN gas engines also make an important contribution to the transformation of the energy sector and enable a noticeable reduction in CO? emissions. Solutions from MAN Engines thus stand for future-oriented and responsible agriculture. “Whether it’s high-performance engines for agricultural machinery, innovative gas engines for power generation, genuine remanufactured units, the new MAN BatteryPack or the MAN Truck specially modified for agriculture and forestry – at Agritechnica 2025 we will be showcasing solutions for every step of the harvest chain: from field work to energy supply and efficient transport,” says Hubert Gossner, Head of Off-Road & Power MAN Engines.
As part of the trade fair, selected products from the portfolio for agricultural vehicles and power generation will be showcased – including the latest generation of diesel engines for agricultural machinery, the most efficient stationary gas engine in its class, a battery pack for mobile applications and a tractor engine from the remanufacturing program. The exhibits exemplify the technological development and future orientation of MAN drive systems in a wide variety of fields of application.
Technology Updates for D4276 and D2676 High-Performance Diesel Engines
At the heart of the further development of diesel engines for agricultural machinery are the established D4276 and D2676 series, which set new standards through targeted technical measures.
In the case of the MAN D4276 engine, the integration of the latest generation of control units has resulted in a comprehensive optimization of the variants with variable and fixed turbine geometry. This revision enables more efficient combustion and higher performance values, and initial test bench results show fuel savings of up to three percent. The adjustments allow machine manufacturers to increase performance and efficiency when integrated into the powertrain of their machines. For years, leading manufacturers such as Fendt (AGCO Group) and Claas have relied on the MAN D4276 in high-performance machines such as tracked tractors, combine harvesters and forage harvesters – proof of the reliability and performance of the unit.
The MAN D2676 engine is also receiving a comprehensive update, which relies on a new engine control unit and a completely revised basic engine. The increase in power from 383 kW (521 hp) to 404 kW (549 hp) is made possible by a new crankshaft, revised combustion, camshaft and pistons together with a modified injection system, oil module and fuel filter. The higher compression ratio ensures reduced consumption of up to seven percent, depending on the respective application and operating conditions. New engine maps and an adapted design lead to a noticeable increase in efficiency and performance. The MAN D2676, which has been established in the truck sector since 2006, is used in agricultural machinery in tractors, combine harvesters and shredders and is proving to be a versatile and robust drive partner.
With the integration of functional safety in accordance with ISO 26262 into the development of the D4276 and D2676 engines, another forward-looking step has been taken. This aspect of modern vehicle technology ensures that safety-relevant systems react reliably and in a controlled manner even in the event of a fault. The inclusion of this standard underlines MAN Engines’ claim to combine technological innovation with the highest level of system integrity.
The MAN D4276 and MAN D2676 engines – like all off-road engines from MAN – are prepared for future and alternative fuels. They are developed and built at the MAN competence centre in Nuremberg, where innovations in diesel, natural gas, biogas, hydrogen and battery-electric drives are being promoted.
Both engine updates address the growing power requirements of modern high-performance harvesters and bring mature products up to date with the latest technology. The product updates shown will be introduced for all MAN off-road engines – from the D1556 to D2862. With these extensive investments, MAN Engines is underlining its role as an innovation leader and long-term partner for drive solutions in the agricultural sector.
On display at Agritechnica are an example of the modern product portfolio: a MAN D2676 engine with a supporting structure of the oil pan used in the Fendt 1000 Vario tractor. This engine will be exhibited together with an EU Stage V exhaust aftertreatment system, consisting of an SCR catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter. Furthermore, a cutaway model of the MAN D4276 allows insights into the interior of the most powerful production in-line six-cylinder engine from MAN Engines in the off-road sector.
MAN E3872: New gas engine for flexible and high-performance CHP solutions under the banner of the biomass package
Another exhibit at Agritechnica is the MAN E3872 gas engine, which has been in series production since mid-2024. Against the background of the current biomass package of the German government, it in twin and triple pack configurations represents an ideal solution for the requirements for higher outputs with increasing flexibility. The modular combination of several of these modern gensets with an output of 735 kWmech makes it possible to cover important power ranges in the field of combined heat and power – such as >1 MW or 2 MW total output – while at the same time improving load stepping capability, high availability and reduced service times due to the redundancy of individual motors.
The MAN E3872 is based on an independent technical concept that was specifically developed for maximum efficiency and performance in the gas engine segment. The development of this modern 30-litre engine is based on the experience of millions of operating hours of the 26-litre MAN E3262 variant. The complete redesign resulted in an engine that sets new standards in its design and performance and clearly stands out from previous generations. In addition to increases in the strength of the crankcase, elementary differences mainly relate to the revision of the turbocharger concept, the combustion process and the cylinder heads.
The MAN E3872 achieves an electrical efficiency of up to 44.4% in the natural gas variant and an overall efficiency of up to 90% in combined heat and power operation. In biogas operation, the values are up to 43.5% electric and 89% total, making the motor ideal for both classic CHP applications and for use in biomass plants eligible for funding.
Depending on the version, the MAN E3872 falls below the strict emission limits of 250 mg and 500 mg NOx per standard cubic metre – and thus meets the current requirements for use as part of the German government’s biomass package.
MAN Genuine Remanufactured Engines – Quality, Economy and Sustainability in Harmony
Another highlight at Agritechnica 2025 is the presentation of a D2676 engine with oil pan support structure that has been overhauled by the MAN Remanufacturing process. This unit is used in the Fendt 1000 Vario and is offered by AGCO as a REMAN engine – recognizable by the corresponding logo on the exhibit. The cutaway model MAN D2676 on display vividly illustrates the differences between a used engine and a fully refurbished one. In addition, the MAN portfolio for original factory-remanufactured engines includes other types – from D1556 to D4276 to D2862 – for a wide range of applications such as tractors, forage harvesters, combine harvesters and shredders. This underlines MAN Engines’ expertise as a provider of sustainable and high-performance drive solutions for the agriculture of tomorrow.
As the parent company of the MAN Engines business unit, MAN Truck & Bus has more than three decades of experience in the professional remanufacturing of engines for a wide range of applications – from commercial vehicles and stationary units to off-road and maritime applications. At the Engine Competence Center in Nuremberg, used engines are repaired with the highest precision and according to the latest technical standards. MAN BatteryPack: Tailor-made energy storage solution for mobile and industrial applications
With the MAN BatteryPack, MAN Engines will be showcasing a pioneering energy storage solution at Agritechnica 2025 that has been specially developed to meet the requirements of mobile and industrial applications. Whether construction machinery, railway vehicles, special vehicles, mining or airport applications – the MAN BatteryPack sets new standards in terms of robustness, stability and durability. The NMC cell chemistry (nickel-manganese-cobalt) used enables a particularly high energy density with low weight and compact design. This allows even demanding application scenarios with limited installation space and high performance requirements to be optimally implemented. A key feature of the MAN BatteryPack is its exceptional durability. The intelligent battery management system (BMS) permanently monitors the condition of the individual cells and ensures an optimal temperature range at all times thanks to a sophisticated heating and cooling system.
The battery packs will be produced at the Nuremberg site, where MAN Truck & Bus is making targeted investments in the expansion of battery production, thus creating the technological basis for the mobility of the future. The production of different form factors of the MAN BatteryPacks enables flexible application in a wide variety of customer applications and vehicle concepts. At the end of production, each individual BatteryPack undergoes a comprehensive “end of line” test, in which around 400 test parameters are recorded and documented.
The development and production of the MAN BatteryPack benefits significantly from the transformation of the MAN plant in Nuremberg, which today functions as a center of excellence for battery and combustion engine technology. In addition to battery production, the latest generations of combustion engines – from diesel to natural gas and biogas to hydrogen – are also developed and manufactured here. With investments of around half a billion euros in the Nuremberg site, MAN Truck & Bus is clearly committed to Germany as a location for innovation and to the sustainable mobility of the future.

MAN TGS 18.540 4×4 BL SA
In addition to the energy and drive technologies of the MAN Engines business unit, MAN Truck & Bus will be presenting a truck specially designed for agricultural requirements at its joint booth: the MAN TGS 18.540 4×4 BL SA. The vehicle combines traction, efficiency and flexibility, making it ideal for use between the field and the processing plant.
The agricultural truck on display is classified as an agricultural tractor and, thanks to permanent all-wheel drive, off-road driving programs and soil-protecting wide agricultural tires, offers maximum usability even under difficult ground conditions. The load-sensing hydraulic system and the trailer bracket with forced steering enable precise and safe control of agricultural equipment and trailers.
The driver-focused cockpit with intuitive operation, the Professional instrument cluster and the MAN SmartSelect system ensure a modern and ergonomic working environment. For additional safety and comfort, a lane return assistant, reversing camera system, ACC Stop and Go adaptive cruise control and the MAN PriTarder high-performance engine brake are installed, among other things.
With a fifth wheel coupling with integrated lubrication and a trailer trestle for agricultural trailers, the MAN TGS is suitable for use with both semi-trailers and trailers. Approval as an LOF vehicle (agriculture or forestry) also enables advantages such as the elimination of the Sunday driving ban and the tachograph requirement.
The vehicle is equipped with the MAN TGS INDIVIDUAL LION S package, which, in addition to functional elements such as LED high-beam headlights, also offers visual highlights such as carbon accents and red design elements – a real eye-catcher at the trade fair stand
Solutions for the entire harvest chain from MAN in Hall 15, Stand G05
From 9 to 15 November 2025, MAN Truck & Bus and its MAN Engines business unit will be showcasing numerous products and solutions for agricultural machinery at Stand G06 in Hall 15. In addition to a MAN truck modified for agriculture, innovative engine and battery systems for agricultural technology will also be on display – including modernized diesel and gas engines, a factory-remanufactured engine and the new MAN BatteryPack for mobile and industrial applications.
