MAN TGE in service for public order and security

MAN Truck & Bus has received one of the largest individual orders in the history of the MAN TGE from the German Federal Ministry of the Interior (tendered by the Procurement Office of the Federal Ministry of the Interior). The framework agreement covers the delivery of up to 250 passenger transport vehicles per year for the German Federal Police and the riot police forces of the German federal states over the next four years. The maximum volume of the agreement therefore amounts to 1,000 vehicles. The first vehicles under this framework contract are scheduled to be delivered later this year.

In future, the MAN TGE will be deployed at major events such as sporting events and public demonstrations. The MAN van will also demonstrate its reliability in other tasks performed by the German Federal Police, including border protection, security of federal facilities, and railway policing.

The vehicles supplied are MAN TGE 3.180 Kombi passenger transporters, featuring an output of 130 kW (177 hp) and a maximum torque of 410 Nm (at 1,500 to 2,000 rpm). Vehicle conversion is carried out by MOSOLF Special Vehicles GmbH in Kippenheim. The specialists transform a standard production vehicle into one designed for official law enforcement duties, including police-specific equipment.

For Christian Götz, Head of Sales Van in the Central Sales Area at MAN, several factors came together to secure this major order: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract by the Federal Ministry of the Interior. It demonstrates that our van is a leading choice on many levels: our comprehensive B2B commercial vehicle service network, our close cooperation with body manufacturers, a state-of-the-art high-quality product, and not least a competitive offer have made this attractive contract possible.”
