Embargo 21 April 2026 – Isuzu UK presents The New Isuzu D-Max 2.2 Diesel at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026. A new 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine as standard replaces the 1.9-litre version, delivering improved efficiency and partnered by a new eight-speed automatic transmission as well as six-speed manual option.
The Isuzu D-Max 2.2 delivers a maximum 400 Nm of torque, ensuring on-road driving and towing performance as well as off-road capabilities. The D-Max outputs 163 PS at maximum 3,600 rpm from its new turbo-charged four-cylinder engine, with electronically controlled fuel injection pump with intercooler and double overhead camshaft. A shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive system allows switching between high gear two- and four-wheel drive at speeds of up to 62 mph. A low-gear four-wheel drive mode, coupled with rear differential lock and Rough Terrain Mode is standard across the range.
The streamlined range of cab options is comprised of Single Cab, Extended Cab and Double Cab configurations. The entry-level Utility model is available in Single and Extended Cab, while the DL20 specification comes exclusively as a Double Cab. The DL40 specification can now be ordered as an Extended Cab and Double Cab, while the top-of-the-range V-Cross is offered as a Double Cab.
The Isuzu D-Max 2.2 is defined by redesigned external features, enhancing the rugged presence of the new pick-up both on road and off. A new front radiator grille distinguishes the 2026 model year D-Max, including a new fully black design for the Single Cab Utility and various colour options across other models. A new grey LED headlight accent colour features on DL40 and V-Cross, and DL20, DL40 and V-Cross specifications include updated front fog lamp bezels as standard, with new colours for the rear LED combination lamp. A new bezel houses the optional rear camera.
New-style sidesteps are included on DL40 and V-Cross, and an Urban Moss metallic paint joins the eight-strong exterior colour palette. DL40 and V-Cross specifications include a new 360-degree Surround View Camera that deploys digital cameras on the front radiator grille, tailgate and wing mirrors, displaying images on the infotainment screen when moving or parking.
The D-Max 2.2 Utility Single Cab and Double Cab specifications include 16” and 18” steel wheels respectively. Other models feature new 18” alloy designs with variations in silver (DL20), grey metallic (DL40) and a rugged dark grey metallic (V-Cross). New Dunlop 265/60R18 low-rolling resistance tyres incorporate a revised rubber compound delivering a 7% improvement in fuel efficiency, as well as a 7% improvement in friction on wet surfaces.
New standard features for the D-Max 2026 model year include EU-compliant Advanced Driver Distraction (ADD) warning and Emergency Lane Keeping systems as part of a new Driver Monitoring System (DMS): located on the steering column, it uses an infra-red camera and image-processing ECU to alert drivers to safety hazards or concentration lapses.
Internal changes to The New Isuzu D-Max 2.2 model include new seat designs, with enhanced cloth and leather trims. High-grade textured cloth is offered as standard on the DL20, and leather is standard on DL40 and V-Cross.
