D & J Dickinson Coaches of Wrangle near Boston, Lincolnshire have added another Plaxton Panther to their immaculate ten vehicle fleet. Based on a Volvo B9R Euro 5 chassis, the new vehicle is 12.8m in length and is equipped with 53 Gala recliners fitted with three point, all age adjustable seatbelts, and a washroom to the centre of the cabin. This is possibly the last of the second generation Panthers to enter service as the range progresses to a third generation of the popular model which can boast over 2000 examples on the road.
The new Panther is finished in a striking variation of Dickinsons white, green and red colour scheme, every vehicle in the fleet has subtle differences to distinguish each one and the new addition has used printed graphics to add a completely new twist to the attractive scheme. Alcoa Durabrite alloy wheels add to the distinctive appearance.
Passenger comfort is assured in the fully climate controlled cabin and complemented with hot drinks facilities, fridge and a premium Bosch entertainment suite which includes a DVD based video system. Don Dickinson, who founded the business and now runs it with his son Nigel, is delighted with their new acquisition, “The Plaxton coach has just returned from its first two tours and we’ve received a great deal of comment from customers on the comfort and finish of the vehicle. Such positive feedback is always good to hear.”
The new coach is destined for use on Dickinson’s own programme of tours and day trips as well as their extensive private hire commitments. It is the fifth Volvo to join the fleet of 10 vehicles, the marque was chosen for its proven reliability and aftermarket back up and Don has a high regard for the combination, “We get good service from Volvo and we’ve been regular customers of Plaxton since the 1980s. The Panther is ideally suited to a family business like ours where comfort, reliability and solid value for money is paramount. I can’t speak highly enough of the service and support we receive from the team at Anston, if we have a problem, the solution is only a phone call away.”
The new Panther coach was supplied by Plaxton Coach Sales at Anston.
