Bobcat photoThe rapidly expanding Bradfield Brewery, based at Watt House Farm at High Bradfield near the City of Sheffield in England, has taken delivery of a new Bobcat S185 skid-steer loader from Wakefield-based MTS Group, the Authorised Bobcat dealer for North, South and West Yorkshire.

Working in and around the brew plant and the other buildings that make up the brewery, the new Bobcat S185 loader carries out material handling tasks in every area and combines this with general loading and muck clearing work for the shire horses and other animals on what is still a busy working farm.

One of the key jobs for the S185 loader is unloading the lorries delivering malt and other ingredients which have to stop at the top of the property because they are too big to drive down the steep, narrow lane to the farm.  The vertical lift design and smooth hydraulics of the new loader make it a simple task to lift heavy pallets off the lorries and carry them down to the brewery.

Brewery owner, John Gill, said: “The balance of the S185 loader feels great and the operation is very smooth, especially when lifting the heavy pallets from the trucks and driving down the lane with the pallets on the front of the machine.  In the tight confines of the former farm buildings used for the brewery, the manoeuvrability of the compact loader is also essential.”
