Fuel efficiency was a major factor in the latest purchase decision for Shropshire-based temperature-controlled storage and distribution specialists Cold Move.
The company has selected Thermo King SLX300 single-temperature refrigeration units supplied by Marshall Fleet Solutions for 16 new trailers, after a two-day fuel trial demonstrated that the SLX used significantly less fuel than its competitor.
Eight SLX300s have entered into service on Schmitz Cargobull trailers, with the remainder fitted on Krone trailers to follow shortly. Cold Move has also awarded Marshall Fleet Solutions the maintenance contract for the units.
James Woodward, Managing Director of Cold Move, explained: “Fuel efficiency was our primary concern as part of our company commitment to reduce our carbon footprint; the SLX gave us what we were looking for. Marshall Fleet Solutions’ maintenance contract was not only competitively priced with excellent national coverage, but their maintenance depot is in very close proximity to ours.”
Marshall Fleet Solutions’ Managing Director, Andrew Howells said: “The SLX300 is sold on the basis of its reduced environmental impact, and it was excellent to see this backed up in Cold Move’s fuel trials. Fuel efficiency will of course only be one of many of the benefits of this unit. We look forward to supporting Cold Move in the future.”
