Princess Coaches Limited of Southampton has taken three new Scania Irizar i6 coaches, further strengthening the company’s ties with the product and building a modern fleet to enhance its business links with cruise line passenger operations in the south of England.
Two of the new coaches are 13.9-metre overall length coaches fitted to Scania’s K400 6×2*4 chassis, with the third being based on a 12.2-metre overall length K 400 4×2 chassis. All three vehicles have been built to executive specification and feature Scania’s 13-litre 400 horsepower Euro 5 engines and fully automated Opticruise gear selection systems.
Both body types have been specified with rear second entrances and floor-mounted washrooms which creates exceptionally generous luggage space between the axles, thus accommodating the luggage requirements of the cruise line operators.
Supported by Scania Southwest, Fareham these vehicles benefit from the included Scania two-year repair and maintenance programme.
Sensors placed throughout the coach continuously monitor temperature and humidity to adjust comfort levels. Total air volume is replaced every 60 seconds with fresh air at the correct temperature. Exceptionally quiet, with lower interior decibels than most luxury cars, the Irizar i6 is fitted with Scania’s most powerful engine and their optimised gearbox solution is used to maximise performance, driveability and comfort.
Princess Coaches Managing Director, Pete Brown says, “Our customer feedback for the Irizar i6 has been fantastic. From an operating point, we benefit from a superb local dealership and back up from the Scania network. We now operate 16 Scania Irizar coaches with a further order being placed for the 2014 season.”
