Cumbria Waste Management has acquired 2 x 13 tonne Multilifts with drawbar trailers worth £180,000 from specialist equipment supplier Londonderry Garage. The business now has a 17-strong Multilift fleet, with vehicles ranging from 7.5 tonnes to 32 tonnes, all supplied by Londonderry Garage.
The current Multilift fleet is mounted on a range of chassis including Daf, Mercedes-Benz and Scania and seven of the units also have trailers. The fleet is used on both domestic and commercial contracts and carries Ro/Ro containers and bins.
The business also makes regular use of Londonderry Garage’s hire fleet. Two 7.5 tonne Multilifts are currently on hire and additional RCVs are brought in over busy periods such as Christmas and New Year.
Mark Taylor, Sales Manager at Londonderry Garage, said: “We have been working with Cumbria Waste since 2002 and I am delighted they awarded us this latest contract. They also make extensive use of our workshop facilities for service inspections and repairs to vehicles, whether we supplied them or not.”
Paul Davidson, recycling manager, said: “Londonderry Garage provides an excellent service with their speed of response, quality of hire vehicles and aftersales all deserving top marks. A lot of this is down to the experience and professionalism of Mark Taylor.”
Some of the Multilifts will be working on Cumbria Waste Management’s major new contract following their acquisition of South Lakeland District Council’s waste management division which has some 15,000 commercial customers across Cumbria, North Lancashire, the North East and South West Scotland.
Cumbria Waste Management is part of the CWM Group which is owned by Cumbria County Council. It provides tailored waste management and recycling solutions for commercial customers, households and Local Authorities. It employs over 200 staff at 20 locations across Cumbria and has its head office at Carlisle.
