Drinks Enterprises, the alcoholic beverages specialist, has taken delivery of five Euro 5 derogated trucks in its first contract hire deal with Ryder.
Drinks Enterprises has been hiring trucks from Ryder on short and long term rental for nearly two decades. The company switched to a five-year contract hire agreement early in 2014 to secure some of Ryder’s remaining stocks of Euro 5 derogated trucks. The contract fixes the company’s rental and maintenance costs for the next five years.
Following a consultation with Ryder, the bodies of the 26-tonne curtain-sided trucks have been custom built to a low height specification. The trucks are roughly 30 cm lower than standard height so that they can pass under low bridges and tunnels in and around London. Ryder helped specify the truck bodies in collaboration with the customer and a third party body-builder to ensure that all requirements were met.
Founded in 1997, Drinks Enterprises is a family-run business, dedicated to serving small shops and off licences across London, the Home Counties and the South Coast.
The five trucks will be based at the company’s depot in Southall, West London. Ryder’s Feltham-based support team will be performing preventative maintenance on the trucks out of hours, providing minimum disruption to the company’s busy delivery schedule.
Drinks Enterprises co-founder and managing director Rashpal Jabble said:
“Ryder has been working with Drinks Enterprises from the very early days, providing expert advice to support our company’s organic growth. Our move to contract hire further cements this close relationship.
“We are delighted to have secured some of Ryder’s remaining derogated Euro 5 trucks on contract hire. Fixing our transportation costs for the next five years gives us more certainty over our outgoings and helps with future planning for the business.
“We pride ourselves on our good range of drinks, extensive knowledge and reliable service. Ryder is a key partner in helping us deliver on our promises.”
“Ryder supports companies of all sizes and it has been a pleasure to partner with Drinks Enterprises and to watch the company grow over the past decade. We look forward to close collaborative working over the next five years.
“There has been intense interest in our stocks of derogated Euro 5 trucks, but we do still have some models remaining to support companies in the transition to Euro 6 emissions engines.”
