Go Plant Limited have completed the acquisition of the business and assets of operated sweeper hire company SM Sweepers Limited.
SM Sweepers is a family run business started in 2007, operating from Raunds, Wellingborough. Over the years, they have built up a reputation for quality and consequently have a loyal customer base, as well as being a significant supplier on the A14 development. The business will continue to be based from their new operating centre based in Islip, Kettering. According to the company, this will ensure customers continue to receive the outstanding levels of service they have experienced for many years from SM Sweepers. The hire number 07734 066189 is still active.
Vaughan McLeod, CEO of Go Plant Limited, commented: “Go Plant having a small presence in the South Midlands, had identified it as key to expansion. Therefore, SM Sweepers was an excellent fit, operationally and in delivering the same high standards and service levels to its customers.”
Critical to Go Plant was the TUPE transfer of their operators and therefore enabling the continuation of service to current and future customers. The purchase also adds a number of specialist vehicles into the fleet, including two Beam sweepers and a Quadvac sweeper, as well as a de-watering facility. This comes as Go Plant is already expanding its Beam sweeper fleet, having ordered five new beams which will be distributed around the regional service centres.
Vaughan continued: “One of our key objectives is the ongoing development of systems to recycle waste from sweeper arisings, the de-watering facility is a vital piece of that puzzle and puts us a step closer to achieving our aims. Whilst the acquisition brings valuable equipment and expertise, it gives customers in the area peace of mind and brings the Go Plant brand to a wider audience.”
As part of Go Plant Limited’s continued growth and expansion plans and following the purchase of ID Sweepers in East Anglia last year, the acquisition increases the number of the comany’s primary operating centres to eleven and the operated sweeper fleet to 400. These are supported further by a network of twelve satellite sites and a number contract service centres which brings the grand total to nearly forty sites.
