Logistics specialists Howard Tenens are investing in the latest compliance tools and technology to future proof their business. Their logistics division is working with TruTac and CMS Supatrak to implement a programme of upgrades focused on delivering efficiency improvements for driver and vehicle management.
These include combined remote vehicle downloading and telematics for instant analysis of driver and vehicle tacho data, tighter control over agency drivers and increased compliance.
Using the market-proven and aptly-named software programme, TruControl – from transport software experts TruTac – with driver behaviour monitoring and live tachograph downloading via CMS Supatrak, Howard Tenens no longer need to manually download vehicle and driver information. Instead, they have full access to data on their 400 vehicle-strong fleet nationwide at the ‘touch of a button’.
Richard Philpotts, National Fleet & Compliance Manager, explained: “The remote downloading system facilitated by TruTac and CMS provides a wealth of real-time, accurate information to ensure that no individual cases slip through the net and particularly so regarding agency drivers. In turn, this adds up to greater efficiency and truly effective compliance control.”
From any chosen location, Howard Tenens can analyse specific and current tachograph data to monitor driver performance and identify infringements, thereby eliminating potential risks. Additionally, they can automatically calculate optimum vehicle routing, identify valuable information such as ‘missing miles’ and improve driver behaviours including accident reduction.
Matthew Bright from CMS Supatrak said: “We worked closely with Howard Tenens from the start. Our initial objective was to fully understand the nature and extent of their logistics operation. Only then could we develop a telematics solution to maximise vehicle utilisation and exactly match their needs.”
Meanwhile, TruTac has provided a bespoke training package, tailored to the Howard Tenens operation, focusing on specific KPIs and reports. The standard of which, said Richard Philpotts, “has been excellent from start to finish and is already delivering benefits.”
TruTac’s Operations and Marketing Director Jemma James said: “Although our software packages are easy to use, we recognise the importance of providing regular training and updates. I’m delighted to say that the Howard Tenens training philosophy goes a long way to keeping their team ‘on-message’ and on top of the entire compliance and control process.”
Howard Tenens have 3PL contracts in most sectors, including retail, automotive, food and beverages.
“With such diverse logistics activities to oversee,” concluded Richard Philpotts, “we rely on round-the-clock accuracy to deliver an efficient and compliant service. The combination of TruTac and CMS Supatrak keeps us ahead of the game and raises the compliance bar!”
