The Road Haulage Association is delighted that Phil Flanders, the RHA’s Director for Scotland and Northern Ireland, has been awarded the accolade of Scottish Road Haulage Personality of the Year at the Scottish Transport News Rewards held in Glasgow.
“Phil’s award has been well earned”, said RHA Director of Policy, Jack Semple. “During his fifteen year tenure with the Association he has raised the profile of the road haulage and logistics industry in general and that of the RHA in particular at all levels. He has formed good relationships with the Scottish government and the other political parties and he has worked tirelessly to provide a voice for Scottish hauliers, including those based in the more remote areas.
“Phil has the backing of a good, strong team at the RHA’s Edinburgh office. Together, they ensure that the RHA is always available to provide help and advice to members, whenever it is sought. He retires from the Association at the end of the year and, although he will be a hard act to follow, he is without a doubt, due a well-earned rest”.
FACTS Magazine would also like to congratulate Phil for this award and for all the fine work he has done over the last fifteen years. Phil has been a regular contributor to FACTS for many years and we have been delighted to work with him and to support as far as possible all his endeavours on behalf of commercial transport in Scotland and across the UK.
The last words go to Phil himself. They are, in no particular order, “gobsmacked, honoured”, and, “very humbled”.
