Scania (Great Britain) Limited has strengthened its fleet sales team with the appointment of Simon Gray to the position of National Fleet Manager – Municipal and Specialist Sales.
Prior to joining Scania, Gray worked for John Lewis Partnership, spending 11 years in Engineering and five years as Head of Fleet Engineering with the transport team which pioneered the large-scale use of dedicated gas-fuelled trucks in the UK.
“Simon’s appointment brings a wealth of experience to our team,” said Kevin Lanksford, Scania’s National Fleet and Specialist Sales Director.
“Sustainable transport operation is a particular focus area for our municipal customers, and Simon’s knowledge of operating quiet, clean vehicles on a renewable fuel source is virtually unparalleled within our industry…the specialist vehicle aspect of Simon’s role will involve the introduction of power sources such as hybrid and plug-in hybrid into municipal applications.
“As such, his appointment represents a key step in our work to drive the shift to more sustainable transport solutions.”
Simon Gray’s entire working life has been spent in transport. Prior to John Lewis Partnership, he spent ten years working for Royal Mail on the service side of its business.
“I started my career in transport with Royal Mail and feel privileged to have been part of a major change programme at John Lewis Partnership,” commented Gray. “I now look forward to sharing the knowledge I have gained over the years with Scania’s customers.”
