For the second time in less than 12 months, global engineering company thyssenkrupp has replaced part of its DAF truck fleet with brand new IVECO vehicles from Guest Truck and Van.
The dealer group’s West Bromwich branch has supplied thyssenkrupp, based in Cradley Heath, with six 18T Eurocargo trucks and five 26T Stralis trucks – all with curtainside bodies. The additions mean the firm’s IVECO fleet now totals 45 vehicles.
“Over the next two to three years we will be looking to replace the whole fleet with IVECO,” said Steve Murray, operations and logistics director for thyssenkrupp.
“IVECO offers competitive prices and our drivers are all really happy with the trucks – there is more space in the cabs and they are very well built. We’ve got no complaints.”
Dubbed ‘the truck the city likes’, IVECO’s Eurocargo has been a preferred choice for fleet managers seeking efficiency in urban areas. The compressed natural gas (CNG) model is the only emission control system that does not alter the combustion process. It achieves this by working through a clean air intake and allowing the combustion temperature to remain high. As there is no need to cool down exhaust gases, less energy is lost and fuel consumption is reduced.
In addition, the IVECO Stralis has undergone a complete driveline redesign – from engine to tyres. It features new electrical and electronic architecture, top-class transmission, rear axle and suspension, and specific features to enhance efficiency, fuel economy, and sustainability.
“The customer service from Guest is always great,” continued Steve. “The team is really knowledgeable about the vehicles and from the moment we place an order, we are kept fully up to date throughout the build stages.
“We have developed a good relationship with the team at the West Bromwich garage and they are always happy to work around us – they even service our trucks through the night so that we do not have to have vehicles off the road.”
James Taylor, group retail truck sales manager for Guest Truck and Van, said: “We are delighted to be working with thyssenkrupp once again as the firm continues to replace its existing fleet with IVECO.”
