VOLKSWAGEN COMMERCIAL VEHICLES CELEBRATES BEST-EVER NEW VEHICLE REGISTRATIONS
- Record UK registrations of more than 41,000 light commercial vehicles
- Volkswagen cements number two position in the LCV sector
- Crafter and Amarok year-to-date registrations up 41.9 per cent and 19.2 per cent respectively
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is celebrating best-ever new vehicle registrations. Sales have passed 2013’s full-year results of 40,857, completing sales of 41,267 from January to November 2014. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles remains number two in the light commercial vehicles sector with a year-to-date market share of 13.4 per cent.
Every vehicle in the brand’s multi award-winning model range is playing its part in a record-breaking year. From January to November 2014, Transporter accounted for 18,659 registrations, compared with 16,994 in 2013, up 9.8 per cent. Caddy’s popularity remains strong, with registrations of 13,073. Crafter registrations have soared to an impressive 6,694, up 41.9 per cent (4,715), while deliveries of the rugged Amarok have increased by 19.2 per cent (2,841) when compared with 2013 (2,383).

VOLKSWAGEN GROUP REACHES NEW HEIGHTS WITH 500,000th UK SALE
Volkswagen Group UK Ltd – which encompasses the Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Commercial Vehicles, Audi, SEAT and ŠKODA brands – has reached a significant milestone, having achieved an all-time record of 500,000 sales this year.
The 500,000th vehicle to be registered was a SEAT Ibiza SC FR 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS (manual) in Phantom Black which was handed over to customer Nathan Thomas-Robinson at the company’s Bristol Street Motors Birmingham dealership by SEAT UK Director, Neil Williamson.
Commenting on this milestone, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group UK, Paul Willis said: ‘Reaching half a million sales is a fantastic achievement for the Group and the result of some strong performances by all the five brands this year.
‘The market has been tough but through intelligent planning, strong product line-ups and a great effort by our networks, we’ve achieved this sales record. We’re likely to finish 2014 with well above 500,000 sales, a result of which we can all be proud.’
Overall in the UK, new car registrations grew for the 33rd consecutive month in November, up eight per cent to 172,327 units.
Willis, who took over as Managing Director for the Volkswagen Group in February 2014, concluded: ‘I’m delighted to have been at the helm of the Group in this record-breaking year, and we are looking forward to another successful year in 2015.’
