Alexander Dennis announced that it will offer its AD Repower service converting existing Alexander Dennis buses to battery-electric vehicle technology as an in-house solution.
AD Repower was first announced in August 2025 in partnership with a specialist engineering firm. Following the partner company’s administration and sale of its assets to a new owner, Alexander Dennis has decided to continue AD Repower as an in-house operation.
Seven engineering experts who were part of the partner’s team have joined Alexander Dennis. They will be based at the manufacturer’s Harlow facility that is home to one of the experienced AD24 Workshops which will undertake the conversion work on AD Repower vehicles.
AD Repower projects will initially focus on Enviro400-family double-deckers in the UK before evaluating demand for other products and in other markets.
Jamie Wilson, Head of Concepts & Advanced Engineering for Alexander Dennis, will lead the activities. He commented: “Bringing AD Repower in-house gives us full control of the engineering development, quality assurance and customer support for our zero-emission conversion programme. The expertise joining our team strengthens our ability to deliver a practical route for operators to extend the life of proven Alexander Dennis vehicles while accelerating their transition to cleaner fleets.”
