Daimler Buses at Bus2Bus 2026

At Bus2Bus 2026 from April 15–16 in Berlin, Daimler Buses will showcase comprehensive and sustainable electric mobility solutions for city and intercity buses, along with a current touring coach model. The trade fair, workshop and networking event for the bus industry is held every two years by Messe Berlin with support from the German Bus and Coach Operators Association (bdo) on the exhibition grounds in Berlin.

In Hall 25, Booth 500/501, Daimler Buses will present the new Mercedes?Benz eIntouro, the manufacturer’s first fully electric intercity bus. In the adjacent outdoor area, visitors can explore the electric articulated city bus eCitaro G and the high-deck touring coach Setra TopClass S 516 HDH.

Mercedes?Benz eIntouro: Electric mobility for intercity routes and excursion services

The centerpiece of the Daimler Buses exhibit is the new electric intercity bus, the eIntouro. The vehicle is designed for classic intercity routes, school transport and shorter excursions. Based on the well-known diesel-powered Intouro, the eIntouro is equipped with a battery-electric drivetrain featuring lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology and a central motor. With this, Daimler Buses is enabling the transition to electric mobility outside of urban environments for the first time. Two lengths are available: the 12.18-meter eIntouro and the 13.09-meter eIntouro M, accommodating seating configurations from 50 up to a maximum of 63 passengers. For the first time in a European bus, software updates can be installed “over the air” without requiring a workshop visit. The first customer vehicles are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2026.

Efficient LFP battery technology

The new Mercedes?Benz eIntouro is available with one or two battery packs, each providing 207 kWh (maximum 414 kWh). The 800?volt LFP batteries offer a high usable capacity of 95 percent and an exceptionally long lifespan of up to 15 years. With two battery packs, the eIntouro can travel up to 500 kilometers[1]Pressrelease without recharging, depending on driving style, topography and weather conditions. Charging is performed via a CCS Type 2 plug with up to 400 kW charging power.

A centrally mounted electric motor provides a continuous output of 320 kW and maximum drive torque of 24,700 Nm. Power is transmitted through an integrated fully automatic three?speed transmission to the Mercedes?Benz RO 440 drive axle. High parts commonality with the conventional Intouro ensures excellent economic efficiency.

First-ever “over-the-air” updates

As the first European bus manufacturer, Daimler Buses enables over?the?air software updates via mobile networks. Software updates are transmitted to the vehicle and installed without a required workshop visit. Update management is handled through the digital Omniplus On portal. When an update becomes available, fleet managers receive a notification and can authorize updates for individual vehicles. Remote vehicle control or manufacturer-driven autonomous rollout of software is excluded. All access and updates are documented, and all data is protected under strict European data protection and cybersecurity standards.

Design, comfort and safety

Visually, the eIntouro remains true to the Intouro design with a functional exterior and modular interior layout for intercity or excursion service. The 13?meter version can be equipped with a restroom in front of the rear entrance. A wheelchair lift on the right-hand side is optionally available for both lengths. Modern assistance systems such as Active Brake Assist 6 plus, Sideguard Assist 2, Frontguard Assist and others form the comprehensive safety package of the new eIntouro.

eCitaro G: Comfortable passenger compartment, long range, exemplary safety

Articulated buses form the backbone of public transit in many major cities and metropolitan areas, especially during peak load times and on heavily frequented city routes. The Mercedes?Benz eCitaro G displayed in the outdoor area demonstrates what a state-of-the-art, fully electric articulated city bus should offer: innovative drivetrain and energy storage technology, maximum safety, a comfortable passenger compartment, a functional driver’s cockpit and an attractive overall design.

The eCitaro G features a new drive axle with improved electric motors delivering a continuous output of 360 kW and 860 Nm of torque. Six high?voltage battery packs of the NMC3 generation with a combined capacity of 588 kWh ensure adequate range for the three?door articulated bus.

Like all articulated buses from Mercedes?Benz, the eCitaro G is equipped with the Articulation Turntable Controller (ATC), providing optimal handling, high stability and excellent maneuverability. Additional assistance and safety systems include Preventive Brake Assist 2, Sideguard Assist 2, Frontguard Assist, Traffic Sign Assist and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPM). A 270° camera system for articulated buses provides essential support during precise maneuvering.
