They have been bought specifically for a new contract with the University of Leicester, which will see six Alexander Dennis buses – the two Enviro200, plus four Enviro400 already in the fleet – used on the route.
The two new Enviro200 are 10.8m long and each have 35 forward-facing high-backed seats with belts, plus five tip-up seats in the wheelchair bay, and wood-effect flooring. Delivered from Alexander Dennis stock, they are smartly painted in Roberts’ charcoal-and-silver livery.
They are PSVAIR-compliant, with audio-visual next-stop announcements and an induction hearing loop for the hard of hearing.
Lightweight and fitted with Alexander Dennis’s SmartPack efficiency technology, they’re also officially low-emission buses.
The two buses are Roberts Travel Group’s first current-model Enviro200, which follow a quartet of double-deck Enviro400 buses, the most recent one of which was bought from Alexander Dennis this summer. The excellent performance and versatile styling of the Enviro400 influenced the Roberts team to choose the Enviro200 for the single-deck requirements of the new route.
