Two Enviro200 from Alexander Dennis for Andrews of Tideswell

Alexander Dennis announced that it has delivered two Enviro200 buses to independent English operator Andrews of Tideswell.

The two 10.8m single-deckers are the first new service buses the Derbyshire operator has ever bought.

They have been purchased for bus services Andrews took over from neighbouring operator Hulleys of Baslow when the latter ceased trading in March 2025.

The new buses are equipped with real-time passenger information, including an audio induction loop system. They are painted in Andrews’ cream-based livery, and have wood-effect flooring throughout.

The Hulleys routes are the first bus service work Andrews of Tideswell has ever done, having specialised in coach tours and private hire throughout its 93-year history.

Subsidised by Derbyshire County Council, the bus routes run around the Peak District, with the new buses purchased for the hourly service from Bakewell to Sheffield.

Andrews is a family business, currently run by fourth generation Director Russell Andrew, with his daughter Hannah representing the fifth generation. It has a 50-strong fleet of coaches and buses of all sizes, including 15 vehicles acquired from Hulleys of Baslow upon Hulleys’ closure, all of which it maintains from its own garage in Tideswell, near Buxton.

Russell Andrew, Managing Director at Andrews of Tideswell, said: “We tried the Enviro200 demonstrator on our Sheffield route over the summer and were sufficiently impressed to order two.

“The size of the buses, the operating conditions, and the flagship status of our Sheffield route combined to make the Enviro200 the right choice for us.

“We’re very happy with the look and feel of the new buses, as well as their operational efficiency – and very excited for this new chapter in our long history.”

Simon Wood, Regional Sales Manager at Alexander Dennis, said: “It’s a pleasure to hand over these buses to Andrews of Tideswell, a well-respected and long-standing coach operator that’s making a great success of its first bus service work.

“I’m sure passengers will be very happy with the new buses, which I think underline Andrews’ commitment to the local services it has taken on. Many thanks to the team for placing their trust in Alexander Dennis.”
