The new bus has been branded for service My16, which York Pullman took over following the award of a contract by City of York Council. Alexander Dennis supplied the new bus in time for the start of operation thanks to the manufacturer’s ready availability of stock-built vehicles.
The Enviro200 is 8.9m long and seats up to 30 passengers with three-point belts provided at all fixed seats. A wheelchair space is easily accessed through the wide passage from the front door.
Fitted with Alexander Dennis SmartPack efficiency technology combining engine stop/start, e-cooling and auxiliary load management, it is certified as a low-emission bus by the Zemo Partnership.
Tom James, Managing Director of York Pullman, said: “This latest addition to our low emission fleet has been well received by customers, with its interior features and seat comfort creating a high quality journey experience.
“The technical performance of the bus also helps our efforts to reduce emissions and support the cleaner air strategy of City of York Council.”
Martin Dunleavy, Regional Sales Manager for Alexander Dennis, said: “It’s great to see York Pullman thrive under First Bus ownership and to continue to supply new vehicles to the company. This particular delivery shows the strength of our stock vehicle programme, which allows us to quickly meet our customers’ requirements for new vehicles after contract wins.”
York Pullman traces its history back to a bus service linking Stamford Bridge and York that started in the 1920s. The current business was formed in 2007 by Tom James, who grew it to a fleet of 130 vehicles by the time First Bus acquired the company in 2024. It continues to operate as a standalone unit within the group, providing coach hire and school services alongside local buses.
